United Mileage Plus Visa/Mastercard

Mom passed away in November of 2004. Part of closing up her affairs involved closing credit card accounts and paying bills.

I received her Mileage Plus bill in the mail after it was forwarded by the post office. The bill came with a $15 late fee. I called the toll-free number and requested a waiver of the $15 late-fee. They gave me a fax number where I could send my request.

I sent the request (twice) and never heard back from them. I never received the credit either.

$15 isn't a huge amount of money, but I'd like to think that a company that big could afford to waive a late fee under these circumstances.

Apparently not.
